Best Time to Post on YouTube: Find Yours in 2 Minutes

Updated October 11, 2026

Short answer

The best time to post is shortly before your viewers are most active. YouTube shows you exactly when that is, in YouTube Studio: Analytics → Audience → When your viewers are on YouTube. Generic charts of “the best hour” are based on other people’s audiences.

Why one time does not fit every channel

A gaming channel watched by students, a cooking channel watched by parents and a business channel watched at the office do not have the same rhythm. Their viewers also live in different time zones. A single “best time” for all of YouTube cannot reflect that.

Your channel already has the answer in its data.

Use the report YouTube gives you

  1. Open YouTube Studio.
  2. In the left menu, select Analytics, then Audience at the top.
  3. Find the report When your viewers are on YouTube.

According to YouTube Help, it shows when your viewers are online across YouTube over the last 28 days, not only when they watch your channel. YouTube suggests using it to schedule Premieres and plan live streams.

On a brand-new channel with few viewers, the report may stay empty for a while.

Turn the report into a schedule

  • Publish a little before the busiest slot, so your video is ready when your viewers arrive, for example an hour or two ahead.
  • Pick days you can keep. A rhythm viewers can count on matters more than a perfect hour.
  • Schedule the upload in YouTube Studio instead of publishing by hand, so the time stays the same every week.
  • Live streams and Premieres need people online at that exact moment: put them right in the busiest slot.
  • Compare after a few weeks. Look at the first hours of each video in Analytics and adjust.

Does posting time matter that much?

Less than the video itself. YouTube says its recommendations aim for relevant and satisfying viewing, using signals such as viewing behavior, likes, dislikes and satisfaction surveys. A video that satisfies viewers can keep being recommended long after its first day, while posting time mostly shapes the first hours. See how the YouTube algorithm works.

No data yet?

Start with a time when your target viewers are likely free, in their own time zone, and keep it steady. Once the report appears, switch to what your data shows.
