How much could your channel earn? Enter your views and your RPM, the figure YouTube Studio gives you, and the calculator turns them into daily, monthly and yearly estimates. Long videos and Shorts are counted separately because they do not earn the same way.
Why the calculator asks for your RPM
Many YouTube money calculators show a ready-made range of earnings per 1,000 views. YouTube does not publish any such average, and earnings vary from one channel to another: topic, viewers’ countries, season and video format all play a part. A borrowed average says little about your own channel.
Your RPM already includes all of that. YouTube Studio shows it in your channel’s revenue analytics once you earn money on YouTube.
RPM and CPM: the difference
| RPM (revenue per mille) | CPM (cost per mille) | |
|---|---|---|
| Point of view | The creator | The advertiser |
| What it measures | What you earn per 1,000 views | What advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions |
| YouTube’s share | Already taken out | Not taken out yet |
| Views counted | All views, monetized or not | Only views where ads were shown |
| Revenue included | Ads, channel memberships, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, Super Stickers | Ads and YouTube Premium |
Because RPM comes after YouTube’s share and counts every view, it is usually lower than CPM. It is also the right number to estimate your income.

Shorts earn differently
Ads in the Shorts feed play between videos, not inside them. YouTube Help explains that the revenue from those ads is pooled each month, shared according to each creator’s share of engaged views, and that monetizing creators keep 45% of the amount allocated to them. Your Shorts RPM can therefore differ a lot from your long-form RPM, which is why the calculator keeps them apart.
Reading the result
- It is an estimate before tax, based on numbers you typed. Views and RPM change from month to month.
- No Partner Program, no ad revenue. A channel that is not in the program does not earn from ads, whatever its views. Check where you stand with the monetization checker.
- Some income is not in RPM. Sponsorships, affiliate links and your own products are paid outside YouTube and are not counted here.
FAQ
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
There is no fixed rate. Your own figure is your RPM in YouTube Studio. It depends on your audience, your topic and the season.
Where do I find my RPM?
In YouTube Studio Analytics, in the revenue tab, once your channel earns money.
Can I use this calculator for another channel?
Only if you know that channel’s RPM, which is private. Any number you guess makes the result a guess too.
